What is Team HOPE?

Team HOPE, which stands for Help Offering Parents Empowerment, is a program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® that offers peer support for families with missing or sexually exploited children. NCMEC matches families with experienced and trained volunteers who provide them with support, friendship, coping skills and compassion.

Who are the Team HOPE volunteers?

Team HOPE volunteers are mothers, fathers, siblings and extended family members who have had, or still have, a child who is missing or has been sexually exploited. These volunteers have demonstrated the ability to turn their personal tragedies into vital lifelines of support for other families. Team HOPE volunteers are passionate about extending their hearts, time, experience, knowledge and wisdom to those who have a missing or exploited child.

How can I get help?

If there is a child in your life who has been abducted or exploited, please call us toll free at 1-866-305-HOPE (4673) to be matched with a Team HOPE volunteer who will provide you with telephone peer support. You are not alone. We care about you and we are here to help.

Team HOPE testimonials

"Team Hope has truly been a blessing in my life. Having a child who has been exploited, you feel so alone. Knowing that there is someone out there, whose situation has been different but the affects it has on you as a parent is the same. That helped me with my healing. And now as a volunteer, helping other families, that is another blessing. These families are experiencing a crisis that I too went through, but supporting them in their time of need gives me an enormous amount of strength and hope for them and for me. My referral said the other day that she gets more out of our 1 hour conversation per week than going to her therapist. She said it is comforting to have someone to speak to who knows exactly what she is feeling and doesn't need to explain or make excuses for anything."

“THANK YOU for all of your help and support. I was a wreck when I first called Team Hope, and you did truly, truly give me hope. I think it was you who told me, every day is a day closer, every breath is a breath closer, and I must have said that a million times to myself, and it really gave me a lot of hope and a way of looking forward. Thank you so much for your kindness. The volunteer who was partnered with me is phenomenal, and she was just such a wonderful support for me, too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and sending many, many prayers for all the parents who are looking for their children.”
